Despite heavy rain in the morning, it stayed dry for the ROSE QUEEN PROCESSION/ CROWNING and the PICNIC IN THE PARK and all went well. Many thanks to all those who put in such hard work organizing this wonderful event for the community. We also had a great turnout for the Rose Queen Service in church with Gemma, our new Rose Queen, and Maisie, our new Rose Bud, both involved.

MARGARET PAPWORTH and GILLIAN FORGRAVE have put a lot of effort into running the Rose Queen celebrations over the past few years and they are now ‘retiring’ from being in charge. So, thank you for all you have done. We need to set up a new ‘Rose Queen Team’ for next year’s event. If you would like to help, then please speak to me.

I am also delighted to announce that MARGARET PAPWORTH has been accepted by the Diocese of Chester for training as a Pastoral Worker. This will mean three years training, starting in the Autumn. She will then be ‘licensed’ to serve in our parish and develop in an official capacity the excellent pastoral work she already does.

PAUL STEVENSON, from St John the Evangelist church in Sandiway, has now come to the end of his placement with us as part of his Reader training. Paul has been very involved and it has been a joy to have him and his wife, Sandra, worshipping with us over the past few months. Paul has a deep faith and a willingness to serve and I am sure that he will have a fruitful ministry.

Finally, if you are away on holiday this month, can I wish you a safe and peaceful time of refreshment.

With my best wishes,

David
