In 1911 the parents James Dixon and Elizabeth were living at Mouldsworth with four children but Alfred was not with them.
In 1911 Alfred Edward Dixon aged 19, born Tarvin was a ‘Grocer Apprentice’ in the household of George Gunnery, Grocer, at Tarvin, together with one servant, 2 visitors, 4 other apprentices, and 3 Vanmen4
He was finally identified, after a long search, in ‘Soldiers who died in the Great War’:
Alfred Edward Dixon 681830 Gunner Royal Horse Artillery and Royal Field Artillery, Territorial Force;
born Tarvin, enlisted at Liverpool; died 13.9.1917 Killed in Action, France and Flanders
He is buried at Ypres Reservoir Cemetery which is located to the north west of Ypres
