A Fond Farewell

  • by

After 24 years employed as the Deputy Head of Ashton Hayes Primary School, ‘Miss’ Linda Corker has decided that now is the right time to retire and do other things.

Her final school assembly, held in St John’s during the afternoon of 18th July, was attended by staff, pupils, governors, past pupils and friends – in fact the church was full to overflowing. There were plenty of memories shared and messages of good will spoken and passed on but the real expression of the school’s love for her rang out when one of Linda’s previous classes sang their own version of the Bill Withers classic, “Ain’t no Ashton when she’s gone.”

There was joy; there were tears – it was an emotional but a very fond farewell.
